01Nail Grinding
Nail grinding uses a rotary grooming tool to gently smooth the edges of the nail after trimming. Compared with clipping alone, grinding can leave the nails smoother and reduce sharp edges.
Regular nail maintenance may also allow the nail to be kept shorter over time.
However, not every pet tolerates the sound or vibration of a nail grinder. If a pet becomes extremely stressed or unsafe to handle, we may use nail clipping only.
Results vary depending on nail length, quick length, pet behavior, and how frequently the nails are maintained.
02Flea Bath
A flea bath is intended to help remove or kill fleas that are present on the pet at the time of grooming.
A flea bath does not provide long-term flea prevention and does not eliminate fleas or flea eggs from the home, bedding, yard, carpet, furniture, or other animals.
If fleas are found during grooming, additional time, cleaning, and flea-treatment charges may apply. Pet owners should consider veterinarian-recommended prevention for ongoing protection.

03Flea Prevention at Home
Flea control usually requires treating more than just the pet.
- Maintain veterinarian-recommended flea prevention.
- Wash pet bedding regularly.
- Vacuum carpet, rugs, furniture, and areas where pets sleep.
- Treat all pets in the household appropriately.
- Check pets regularly for flea dirt or live fleas.
- Consult a veterinarian for severe itching, skin irritation, hair loss, infection, or persistent flea problems.
A grooming flea bath is not a substitute for ongoing flea prevention.
04Matted Coat & Dematting
Matting occurs when loose hair, dirt, moisture, and friction cause the coat to become tightly tangled. Minor tangles may sometimes be brushed or combed out safely.
Severe matting may be painful to remove and may hide skin irritation, sores, bruising, parasites, or other conditions. Shaving the coat short may be safer and more humane than prolonged dematting.
Additional dematting fees may apply depending on coat condition and time required.
Pet safety and comfort take priority over preserving coat length.
05Important Information About Matted Pets
Removing a severely matted coat may reveal pre-existing skin conditions that were hidden beneath the matting.
Tightly matted hair can pull on the skin and may increase the risk of irritation, redness, bruising, sores, or accidental nicks during grooming. A pet may also behave differently after removal because the skin is suddenly exposed to air and touch.
Pet Paw Grooming will use reasonable professional care and prioritize the pet’s safety and comfort.

06Senior Pets & Pets With Health Concerns
Senior pets and pets with medical, mobility, breathing, neurological, heart, skin, or behavioral concerns may require modified grooming procedures.
Owners should tell us about known conditions before grooming. We may shorten, modify, pause, or discontinue grooming if continuing appears unsafe or overly stressful.

07Pet Behavior & Safety
Please let us know in advance if your pet has a history of biting, snapping, extreme fear, sensitivity to certain areas, or difficulty with grooming. Knowing this information helps us choose safer handling methods.
For the safety of the pet and our grooming staff, we may modify or stop a service if a pet cannot be handled safely.
Completion of every requested grooming service cannot be guaranteed when safety is a concern.
